There’s a reason Facebook has the status It’s Complicated.

Follow four college roommates, Claire, Palmer, Hannah and Kat as they maneuver crushes, confusion, and the crisis when pushy boys go too far. Complicated as it is, these four friends will pull through, guided by the strength of their friendship and the power of God’s love.

I really liked this first book and how it dealt with such relevant issues.

I couldn’t wait to continue the stories of Palmer, Hannah, Kat and Claire as they learn and love, grow and experience life in the second book of the Status Updates Series.

Ellie Lansing has a picture-perfect life with a close-knit family and the perfect boyfriend. But her world is suddenly knocked off center when her drool-worthy boyfriend cheats, and her always-has-it-together mother is diagnosed with cancer. Ellie doesn’t get it. She always does the right thing – doesn’t God owe her a happy life? Through her heartache, Ellie learns that sometimes what seems like the end is really just the beginning and that what God has for us is always worth the wait.

The story continues in the second book in the Waltham Academy Series, Worth the Time, will be released in January 2015.

From the blood-soaked sand of the Roman arena, a divine destiny will rise. For as long as Jonathan Tarquinius can remember, everyone has wanted something from him. His half brother wants him dead. His master’s wife wants his innocence. The gladiator dealers want him to fight—and die—for their greed. Rome’s most famous prostitute wants his love. And the gentle slave girl who tends the wounds on his body and the hidden ones on his soul longs for him to return to his faith.

I don’t read a lot of historical fiction but after hearing SO much about this book, I had to read it. Oh, wow. It’s an amazing story of courage, bravery, self-sacrifice, and enduring spirit. Please note that some aspects of this story are indeed gritty–not in a sexual way–but in the depth of Jonathan’s suffering. But the story is worth it. Really.

Life has taught Miska Tomlinson that there are no honorable men. Her womanizing brothers, her absentee father, and Mark, the married baseball player who claims to love her—all have proven undependable. But Miska has life under control. She runs her editing business from her luxury condo, stays fit with daily jogs along Chicago’s lakefront, and in her free time blogs anonymously about life as a kept woman. Enter new neighbor Dillan Foster…

A very gutsy story that delves deep into the gripping realities of  life-altering decisions.
